Computational and Experimental Analysis of Axial Flow Cyclone Used for Intake Air Filtration in Internal Combustion Engines

The properties and advantages of axial flow cyclones are presented; several dozen them already widely used as the first stage inlet air filtration in internal combustion motor vehicle engines, work machines helicopters. necessity to conduct research on improve separation efficiency has been demonstrated. Using commercial engineering software Ansys Fluent, at a constant velocity 10 m/s, an assessment was made effect length diameter outlet tube changes cyclone. Each examined parameters variable while maintaining other factors level. In numerical calculations, test dust used, which equivalent AC fine dust, particle size composition taken into account using Rosin–Rammler model. Increase observed with increase decrease cyclone tube.
